HollywoodNews.com: Author J.K. Rowling and Producer David Heyman appeared onstage to accept the BAFTA Award for Outstanding British Contribution to Cinema, which honored the Harry Potter film franchise for 2011. Of receiving the honor, author J.K. Rowling stated: It is very strange to look back after seven films and remember how wary I was of letting anybody put Harry on the big screen, and I kept saying no. And it was David Heyman — not Warner — David Heyman who persuaded me and he has been there from start to finish. So tonight, I really need to say publicly how right I was to trust him, how much I owe him, how grateful I am to him, and to say that being involved in these films has been one of the best experiences of my life, and particularly being involved with these wonderful people standing behind me. Producer David Barron, and Directors Alfonso Cuaron (Prisoner of Azkaban), Mike Newell (Goblet of Fire) and David Yates (Order of the Phoenix, Half-Blood Prince and Deathly Hallows – Parts 1 & 2), actors Rupert Grint and Emma Watson all joined Rowling and Heyman onstage to accept the award. Rowling, Heyman, Watson and Grint were also interviewed backstage after receiving the award. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 1 was nominated for two awards – for Special Visual Effects and Make-Up & Hair, but did not win in either category. Other notables involved with the Harry Potter franchise won BAFTAs for their work on outside projects: composer Alexandre Desplat won for Original Music, and actress Helena Bonham Carter (Bellatrix Lestrange) won the award for Supporting Actress, both for The King’s Speech.
